1. What This Reference Is
Torrance Residents Directory is privately operated. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections associated with Torrance, Los Angeles County, and California. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with Torrance, the county, a court, a library, or another records custodian.
2. Lawful Rules for Use
Use the reference and anything reached through it only for lawful purposes. You may not use it to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm a person
- Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
- Commit identity theft, fraud, or another crime
- Make an FCRA-regulated decision involving credit, employment, tenant, or insurance matters
- Scrape, copy, or republish pages at scale
- Interfere with operation, security, or availability
3. No Consumer Reports
This reference is not a consumer reporting agency as that term is defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 and following. Nothing on the pages, and nothing returned by a linked search tool, is a consumer report. Do not use it to assess eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose regulated by the FCRA.
4. Linked Services
Los Angeles County portals, California agencies, Torrance resources, libraries, archives, and sponsored search providers set their own terms and privacy rules. Torrance Residents Directory does not control their content, availability, pricing, or data practices.
5. No Warranties
The pages are provided “as is” and “as available.” No warranty is made that a fact, fee, portal, link, collection date, or search result is accurate, complete, current, or available at every moment.
6. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of the reference or a linked resource, including an action taken from a record found through it.
7. Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from a claim, demand, or expense, including reasonable attorney fees, that results from misuse of the reference or violation of these terms.
8. Copyright and Site Material
The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. A link and a brief attributed quotation are welcome. Full-page republication or systematic copying is not authorized.
9. Revisions
These terms may change when an updated version is posted. Continued use after the posting date means that the revised terms are accepted.
10. Access Restrictions
The operators may block or limit access for a user who violates these terms, abuses a linked tool, or threatens the operation or security of the reference. This may occur without advance notice.
11. California Law
California law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The California Public Records Act, Government Code section 7920.000 and following, describes access to many reasonably described existing public records; it does not make Torrance Residents Directory a custodian or require an office to create a new record. California privacy rights also arise under Civil Code section 1798.100 and following, subject to statutory exceptions.
12. Severability
If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
